What You Must Know About Retirement

Medicare and Legal Workshop for Genki Living

We were happy to have 40+ people attend our workshop on March 12, 2011 at the Okinawa Association of America, Inc.  Our thanks to Kanako Kusano for coordinating this workshop with printed copies of all information made available for everyone.  It was also helpful to have her translate all the information in Japanese for both speakers.

Ms. Stephanie Lee from the Center for Health Care Rights spoke about “Medicare: What Options Do I Have?”  She spoke about Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medi-gap.  She informed us of the differences to help us select the plan that would benefit us the most.

Mr. Kazuaki Uemura is an Attorney at Law who spoke about “Wills & Living Trusts.”  We learned ways to protect and leave our assets wisely for our families.  Otherwise problems would arise at the time of our deaths: 15% government penalty and all accounts are untouchable for 18 months, etc.

People had a chance to ask about their personal problems and needs during our question and answer period.  A light lunch was provided for everyone.

Everyone was pleased with all the printed copies they received so they could share them with their families as they plan for the future.

We feel that everyone approaching age 65 should hear this information as they plan for their retirement and their future.
